The Skoda Fabia has the same 1.0 litre petrol engine, offering 74bhp, as the Skoda Citigo. However, this time around it doesn’t feel as nippy. This may be down to the larger size and weight of the Fabia, along with the ratios of the gearbox, which are spread widely and make the engine work harder. If you are looking for a vehicle just to drive around town it is good, but it may be out of its league on motorways.
In our opinion it is the 1.2 TSI petrol offering 89 horses that comes out ahead as it offers decent power from low revs and never seems to run out of power. We believe that the engine is so good there really isn't any reason to go up to the 109bhp and waste money.
If you simply must have more power there is the DSG with automatic gears, it is faster, but the majority of people are going to find that the lower horses cope adequately with whatever the town and country throws its way.
