You can choose between the 237 horse power turbocharged petrol engine, the 145bhp diesel or the 148 horse power non-turbo when considering the Subaru Forester. Out of the three the non-turbo petrol feels the weakest and when at high revs it makes a lot of noise. The turbocharged petrol is the fastest, but then it guzzles the fuel, and so we are left with the diesel, it’s smooth and strong, so it’s our choice.
With the 145 horse power diesel there is the X trim, this is the entry level and thanks to it offering lots of equipment, it comes out ahead. You get heated seats in the front, air-conditioning, alloys, USB and Bluetooth support. It offers the manual gearing and the only thing it is short of is the X-drive for going off the road.
eated to hill-descent control, which is standard on the automatic version of the Subaru Forester. If you go up to the XC or the XE trims you get the addition of automatic wipers, rear view camera and more. For sat-nav and leather seating you are going to have to go with the XC and XE Premium trim.
